Travel Necessities Gift Set in Honor of Sony Classics’ Daddio

To celebrate the release of Sony Classics’ film Daddio, I was sent a gift set featuring travel necessities. The film, in theaters June 28th, stars Dakota Johnson and Sean Penn. It involves a taxi ride from New York’s JFK airport to Manhattan’s Hell’s Kitchen.

Due to the thoughtfulness of the gift set from Allied Global Marketing, I just had to share it here on the blog!

First, everything was sent in a Lands’ End tote bag that I didn’t know I needed. It makes a perfect travel bag, with just the right about of pockets. And even better it was customized with my name.

Inside consisted of travel snacks, like pretzel chips and gummy bears. And a customized clear pouch with other goodies, like gum and a gift card. But here are the beauty travel necessities that really impressed me.

Touchland Power Mist

I have multiple of this hand sanitizer in various scents and couldn’t have been happier to get a hydrating one in a new to me scent. I love their gentle and glow hand sanitizers!

Patchology Eye Gels

I haven’t tried these hydrating eye gels yet, but really like Patchology. And as someone who enjoys masking as a form of selfcare, I know they will not go to waste.

L’occitane Hand Cream

When traveling, my skin tends to dry more quickly and a good shea butter hand cream is always ideal to have.

E.L.F. Cosmetics Lip Balm

The same goes for a good lip balm. The E.L.F. Cosmetics Squeeze Me Lip Balm is both affordable and effective.

What do you need to have with you when you travel?

Bet in the City

To celebrate my birthday, the manfriend and I went to the city.

NYC obv.

Even though it was super rainy, I had an amazing time and was even able to cross a few things off of my 30 before 30 list.

Warning: As always, I took a crap ton of photos + I’m going to over-share…

Columbia Journalism School | Info Session

Our visit started with a 10AM Info Session at Columbia Journalism School. 4. Go back to school (Masters in Journalism maybe?)

Birchbox SohoBirchbox Soho | BYOB Birchbox Soho

Then shopping which unfortunately consisted of mostly window shopping (such a tease!), but I did get to build my own box at the Birchbox store in Soho. I didn’t get my nails done, but maybe next time… 10. Shop at the Birchbox store in Soho

Sprinkles Cupcake ATM Sprinkles Cupcake ATM Sprinkles Cupcakes

After dinner we enjoyed cupcakes from Sprinkles. Mine was strawberry and his was chocolate marshmallow. 13. Hit up the Sprinkles ATM

Radio City Music HallChristmas SpectacularThe Rockettes

The real reason for the trip was to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, thanks to Groupon.

Since it was all for my birthday, I had to have champagne.

In a novelty cup.

With a light up swizzle stick.

Bet + the manfriend

We had tickets for the 10PM show…

It was a VERY long day. But SO worth it!

Heels were a bad idea.

xx Bet

packing + prepping for Alt SLC

When I heard that Martha Stewart, yes THE Martha Stewart, was going to be a keynote speaker at this year’s Altitude Summit Salt Lake City I died. And then I entered every single contest in attempt to score the chance to attend.

I must be a cat, because I then found out that not only did I win (Thank you, Instagram and #altsummit_yellow!), but also that Joy Cho, yes THE Joy Cho, was going to be the other keynote speaker (Note to self: Make sure to pack Blog Inc.)! I died twice more.

Booked my flight, roundtrip. Had a minor panic attack (literally, anxiety will do that to you) after learning that the hotel where Alt SLC is taking place was full. Thankfully, I was able to find a hotel right down the street.

Prepping for Alt SLC was more or less a breeze. Blog cards? Check. Print schedule + highlight first, second, and third choice sessions? Check + color coded.

Packing is another story.

Did you know that you can only have one (1) quart sized ziplock bag for liquids? AND that each of those liquids must be in a container of less than 3.4oz? Seriously?? Who came up with this?! Clearly not a female + at the very least not me!

20140614-180441-65081610.jpg

I have only ever flown internationally, and this trip I do not want to risk checking any luggage as I’ll only be in Utah for four days.

Now what to pack? What should I wear?

Slightly larger minor panic attack.

Others attending the conference (including Thrift Me Pretty’s Stasia Savasuk) have been very reassuring about not worrying about what to wear, but I can’t help it…t’s what I do on the daily!

I almost always overthink my outfits, have been known to over-pack, and now I’m trying to fit it all into a carry-on. This should be interesting…

Travel Lite

I recently stayed at the Killington Grand Resort and everything was picturesque. And I mean, everything, from the marvelous mountain view to the makeup removing wipes in the bathroom!

Yes, even the makeup removing wipes in the bathroom!

20140325-153250.jpg

I had heard of La Fresh, and seen it around the internet, but never gotten the chance to try anything from their line…until my stay. Of course I had packed my own makeup removing product but I HAD to try the Travel Lite Makeup Remover Wipes, and after a great late night yoga sesh, the last thing I wanted to do was wash my face before bed.

No smudging or smearing, just gone. I am without a doubt switching to these! That’s not to say that I won’t use anything else, but when traveling or just on the go in general, I will need to make sure to have these on me for sure!
