Seriously Stylish Halloween Costumes You’ll Love

I’m feeling very into the Halloween spirit this year! I wanted a seriously stylish Halloween costume, but wasn’t willing to invest a ton of money in any Halloween costumes. So, I shopped my closet for pieces I could use to play dress up.

It can be almost too easy to get carried away come spooky season. Believe me I know, in college I won a gift card in a Halloween costume contest, but the gift card amount was less than what I had paid for my costume.

Besides, I spend too much on clothes throughout the year to not be able to put together a fashion forward costume…or four!

This costume idea sparked the whole #tsphalloweek! I was pitched by a brand to do a Halloween blog post in exchange for the costume, it wasn’t that I didn’t like their costumes, but it was a lingerie brand and the partnership didn’t align with my vision. But I had found one particular costume that I really liked the concept of, Medusa. I mostly wanted the headpiece, so I googled it, found one and bought it myself. Then I found an affordable dress I loved, and knew I could wear again. So I did end up spending some money, but not a lot!

The Twenty Something Plus Guide to Wearing Tights with a Dress and Boots

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

It’s fall once again, but it feels like we just got the option to wear dresses back and I’m not ready to give that up. Wearing a dress with tights is one of the easiest ways to keep your dresses in your outfit rotation. I personally prefer to go with dresses that look good with black tights, and since you can’t go wrong with an all black look, it’s good for spooky season and beyond!

Here’s how to wear tights with four different dress styles, to pair with four different styles of boots.

Just don’t forget to add tights!

If you’re like me and run a little more on the cold side, here’s a style tip! When it’s not yet cold enough for a coat, adding a jacket or sweater not only changes up the look of a dress you may have worn all summer. This also adds an extra layer of warmth for the cooler weather of the season.

Not into all black? Try nude sheers instead. If you have a dress with a little more color and black tights don’t really match, these are the perfect solution.

Nordstrom Made Spring Essentials Under $100

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

Spring in New England is always an interesting time fashion wise. One day will feel like summer and the next will have you question whether or not you should have waited a little bit longer to put all your coats in storage. I personally am a fan of pieces that you can easily style, no matter how the weather decides to act. Ones that you can look just as chic in under a layer (or two), or solo. Luckily, Nordstrom has a ton of amazing options for under $100!

I’ve mentioned one of my favorite brands is actually Nordstrom Made brand, Treasure & Bond. Their graphic tees are a must buy for me, but they also have so much for than that!

I found some of the cutest spring essentials, including this white sweater dress. It’s lightweight enough to wear alone on warmer days, yet can be styled under a shirt, sweater, or jacket if there’s a chill in the air. The other aspect I like about this dress is that it can also easily be dressed up or down, making it the perfect addition for a potential spring capsule wardrobe.

In addition to the dress, I found this utility jumpsuit. I’ve been obsessing over this style and finding a light-weight one for under $100 seemed almost too good to be true! I love how great it goes with a pair of classic white sneakers.

Nordstrom Winter Style

I hear it snowed in Texas.

Just when it was starting to feel like maybe spring was finally on it’s way back, winter said, lol jk!

Since I’m in New England, I’m used to the snow, and honestly I don’t hate having an excuse to keep wearing (or buying) winter style clothes

Typically, I go for knit sweaters and jeans.  But since, like so many of us, my work from home mindset has started to shift to be a little more casual than usual,  I’ve started incorporating even more athleisure winter style pieces into my wardrobe.

Athleisure wear doesn’t have to be workout clothes, but at the same time, also can be. The main thing is to be comfortable, while still feeling chic.

I love pairing pieces that you’d wear post-workout, like this sweatshirt, with elevated basics. And even though I would never exercise in faux leather leggings, they work so well with my outfit.

And because of all the snow everyone seems to be getting, boots are a must! I’m really loving the lug boot style right now. This particular style also comes in black leather and cognac suede. Of course, after getting mine, I have the other two colors on my wish list, and possibly getting the next time I have Nordstrom Notes, which you earn points towards when you shop, and can use to spend with Nordstrom later, when you sign up for The Nordy Club.

How are you staying warm in all the snow we’re getting this season?

Two Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

Valentine’s Day this year, like so many other things, is looking different than it has in the past.  Andrew and I tend not to go all out for most holidays, but last year we enjoyed a candlelit dinner for two at Ciao Bella in the North End of Boston. I’d hoped that (or at least something similar to it) would be a new tradition for us. This Valentine’s Day, however, we will be continuing to stay home. And having a candlelit dinner for two in the comfort of our apartment, with delivery.

But just because Valentine’s Day won’t be the same this year, that doesn’t mean that you can’t dress for it! I mean, will probably be in sweats all day, to be honest, but if I were going to dress up, here are two Valentine’s Day outfits that I would wear.

The first look is actually inspired by The Everygirl. They’d featured it in an article titled, 7 Non-Cheesy Outfits for Every Valentine’s Day Occasion. It was the suggested what to wear for a casual date with you long-term boo. And honestly they nailed it! This look is exactly what I would wear out with Andrew. I switched up the red satin top style a bit, for a slightly sexier vibe. And ditched the chain belt, because I forgot I had a purse chain strap I could use.

For the second of my Valentine’s Day outfits, I wanted to share something that is a little bit more of what people have in mind when they think of Valentine’s Day looks. A little white dress (that I’ve worn before, and was excited for the excuse to wear it again) and a pop of red! I love these heels and with the dress it’s just such a cute dressier look to wear to celebrate love.

How dressy will your V-Day attire be or are you keeping it very low key? Let me know in the comments below!

Nordstrom New Arrivals

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

So far this year is all about new! New president, new hair tools, new arrivals, and new markdowns.

One of the easiest ways to stay on top of what’s in, is to shop new arrivals. That’s exactly what I did to score this entire outfit. Feminine detailed sweaters and wide leg jeans are two trends I can get behind, mostly because they’ll never really go out of style.

What makes these jeans stand out to me is the distressed details, which are not unheard of, but not nearly as common to find with wide leg jeans as they are with skinny or mom style jeans.

High heeled boots are always a timeless staple, but finding them in the perfect shade of brown is goals.

And if you’re looking for the perfect leather jacket, Nordstrom has my two of my favorites!

All of this pairs all too perfectly with a dainty, but stylish, necklace. I found a few that I love and plan to keep in my rotation. You can always layer a few to add a little more edge to your look.

You may have noticed that these jeans are long! I kind of like them this way, but what I really like is that if I want, I can get them altered for free as one of the many perks of The Nordy Club.

What do you think, should I leave them or get them hemmed?

New Year, New Beauty & Hair Care Goals

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

I’ve never been all that big on New Year’s resolutions, and this year I’ve been even more hesitant to set one. That doesn’t mean that I don’t have goals, and some pretty lofty ones! Since I’ll be continuing to stay home at this time, I figured I would make the most of it as much as I could, by trying to refine my makeup, skincare, and hair care routines. For makeup and skincare, my goal is to get better at applying the products I already know that I love to create Instagram-worthy beauty looks. And also pin down  routines that work, so that I can be more consistent with them.

Now, with hair care it’s a bit different. If you’re at all familiar with my hair journey, then you know that it is all over the place. But you also know that I’m not good at doing hair, my sisters usually are the ones to do mine for me, and when I find something I can do, I do it on repeat (hello, slick ponytail, that involves A LOT of gel)!

After checking out the Allure Best of Beauty 2020 winners, and scoping out Nordstrom’s new beauty arrivals, I decided to give a few things a try, including the Sigma Beauty F79 Concealer Blend Kabuki Brush and T3 Lucea ID 1-inch Smart Straightening & Styling Flat Iron

Having used the flat iron a few times now, I 100% get why so many bloggers and influencers rave about it. It’s that good! I really want to try one of their curling irons next! I’m still getting better at doing my own hair, especially since going natural, and have a ways to go. But being able to straighten it with ease means I can try more styles, which is the goal.

What are your 2021 beauty goals?

No matter what you hope to achieve this year, Nordstrom has all your beauty needs to help you accomplish it. And with The Nordy Club, you get some pretty great perks, like earning points towards Nordstrom Notes when you shop, that you can use on future purchases. I’ve used a few already!
Not sure where to begin? Here are my current top Nordstrom beauty picks:

cabi Clothing Rebel Shirt Two Ways

Disclaimer: This post is in partnership with cabi.

Working with cabi Clothing and being one of their ambassadors this year has really been such an immense pleasure! Before this, when I was gifted pieces, I would love to style them two different ways. I had so much fun styling these pieces, that I want to bring this back and style my favorite cabi Clothing top, the Rebel Shirt two ways!

The quality of cabi’s jeans is so good that I own 4 different pairs. And when I found out that they had a denim shirt, I knew that there was no way I wouldn’t love it.

The first look is denim on denim. The ever popular cabi Cinch Skinny jeans, complement the Rebel Shirt perfectly. There’s honestly no wrong way to accessorize such a good  and classic outfit, so I kept it simple with a half tuck and neutral ankle boots.

For my second look, I wanted to show that you can easily dress up denim, even if it’s a shirt, while still keeping true to my more casual style. Pairing the Rebel Shirt with a wrap skirt, oversized hoop earrings, and statement booties.

I love both of these looks so much, that I can’t even begin to decide which of the two I like more.

Which one is your favorite and why?

Nordstrom X UGG

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

Ugg boots are iconic. And this holiday season you can catch me inside, in head to toe Ugg. That’s right, UGG has so much more than the boots we all know and love them for!

In addition to their boots, I love their slippers, but did you know that they also have loungewear and the coziest sweaters? It’s the leggings for me. This pair is double knit, so they really keep you warm when you have to step outside.

These two looks are perfect for staying in, and most likely what you’d find me in, on my couch or on a quick coffee run. I styled the UGG Fuzzy Logo Sweatshirt here with jeans, but they would go just as great with leggings, lounge pants, or joggers. And UGG has you covered for outerwear as well, with jackets and coats that you can bundle up in.

Staying in all day? I love my Phoebe Wrap Cardigan, which can also be worn as a robe over one of the UGG pajama sets.
The best part? UGG is available right at Nordstrom, so if you’re signed up for The Nordy Club, you can take advantage of all your free perks, and earn points towards Nordstrom Notes when you shop, which you can use to buy even more UGG goodies later!

Nordstrom Made Brands Cold Weather Outfit

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

It may not be winter yet, but it is certainly starting to feel like it is. I’ve switched from graphic tees to graphic sweatshirts, and adding (faux) leather and layers to my looks, to make them more cold weather friendly.

With Nordstrom brands, I’ve been able to find the perfect pieces to stay warm as the weather gets colder.

This outfit, which is a new favorite of mine, is all Nordstrom brands!

Graphic tees make up a majority of my tops. Layering them can be cute, but isn’t always the warmest option. Finding graphic sweatshirts has really allowed me to stay true to my style, even when the weather tries to cramp my style. This Treasure & Bond sweatshirt is amazing because it’s a band sweatshirt, but I also really like their non-band options.

Faux and vegan leather is trending in a big way this season, and while I love rocking a pair of faux leather leggings, these Halogen x Atlantic Pacific pants are it for me.

As for layering, a coat is going to be a must real soon, but for the time being, a good jacket can work just fine. To keep my look casual, I went with this quilted longline Zella bomber jacket. It’s both warm and cute!

If you’re shopping Nordstrom brands, or even just at Nordstrom in general, you should seriously sign up for The Nordy Club! It’s free to join and you earn points towards Nordstrom Notes when you shop, which you can use to spend with Nordstrom later. Nordstrom also has free shipping and returns, as well as curbside pickup, so they’ve really got you covered.

Which way will you be keeping your outfits cozy?
