Best Light Layering Pieces for Fall Outfits from FP Movement

Like me, if you love to look cute, but hate to be cold, this blog post is for you! Free People has been one of my favorite place to shop for matching sets, but more recently FP Movement has become one of my go-to sources for sets that take you from a morning walk to going out to get coffee. And now especially, I find myself wanting to wear the sets from summer into the cooler air of fall.

There are a number of new pieces I’ve picked up from FP Movement (and Free People) this season, and my three favorites are some of the best light layering pieces. They all go perfectly over your favorite matching set or a sports bra and leggings!

Fleece Jacket

This fleece is perfect for literally any casual outfit, including jeans and a t-shirt, that just need a little extra warmth. It can also be worn under another jacket or coat for an even cozier feel.

Puffer Vest

I have a few, but this FP Movement packable one is the best! I recently wore it to a New England Revolutions soccer game and it kept me perfect warm, and covered me more than enough to not have to feel the cold stadium seat.

Henley Layer

At least in Boston, the weather can be unpredictable from hour to hour, one second it’s chilly and then a little toasty. Dressing for both is made significantly easier with lighter layers. This henley looks cute both alone or under the aforementioned jacket and/or vest.

If you want outfit ideas for ways to style these light layering pieces, let me know in the comments. You can also see how I’ve worn them on my Instagram!

Fall Fashion Trends with Neiman Marcus

This most recent New York Fashion Week was truly one for the books. From the runway shows to the street style, I couldn’t have been more enthralled to see this season’s hottest styles!

Here are four fall fashion trends as predicted by Neiman Marcus, and spotted at NYFW by yours truly.

Red Hot

There’s no question that red is the color of the season. Whether you go with an all out monochromatic look, or just a pop of this bright hue, if you don’t have any of it in your closet currently, you’ll want to consider giving it a go!

Quite Luxury

Sophia Richie made rich girl chic a total vibe, and honestly this trend is one I absolutely ship. You don’t have to spend a ton to look expensive, just style chic basic pieces together in an effortless way.

Mini Skirts

Mini skirts are one trend from the 90s that I didn’t think I’d love a comeback from as much as I do. The shorter the better, we love a micro mini! In my opinion, this trend is the most versitile, seeing as how you can go grunge with a pair of lug boots and an oversized sweater, or preppy like I did here.

Fall Florals

Florals for fall may not be quite as common as for spring, but a dark floral dress gives autumn vibes in a way that nothing else can.

The Twenty Something Plus Guide to Wearing Tights with a Dress and Boots

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

It’s fall once again, but it feels like we just got the option to wear dresses back and I’m not ready to give that up. Wearing a dress with tights is one of the easiest ways to keep your dresses in your outfit rotation. I personally prefer to go with dresses that look good with black tights, and since you can’t go wrong with an all black look, it’s good for spooky season and beyond!

Here’s how to wear tights with four different dress styles, to pair with four different styles of boots.

Just don’t forget to add tights!

If you’re like me and run a little more on the cold side, here’s a style tip! When it’s not yet cold enough for a coat, adding a jacket or sweater not only changes up the look of a dress you may have worn all summer. This also adds an extra layer of warmth for the cooler weather of the season.

Sweater Layered Over a Mini Dress

Not into all black? Try nude sheers instead. If you have a dress with a little more color and black tights don’t really match, these are the perfect solution.

The 5 Fall Fashion Essentials You Need from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Disclaimer: This post is in partnership with and sponsored by Nordstrom and ShopStyle, and contains affiliate links.

You know I love a good sale and the Nordstrom Anniversary sale going on right now is officially one of my favorites! I’m partnering with Nordstrom and ShopStyle to share the five fall fashion essentials that you need, which are all currently available at Nordstrom as a part of their anniversary sale.

1. Sweaters

This fall, I am all about staying warm and there’s a reason they call it sweater weather. I very much so plan to spend my days curled up and cozy on the couch. While layering is a must, if I’m staying in, the top layer will most likely be a versatile sweater, to wear with leggings, jeans, skirts, over dresses, the list goes on…

Here are my fall sweater picks:

2. Leggings

I could wear jeans always. That being said, I have been wearing leggings a lot more often. My personal favorite, are a good faux leather pair, but I have both quality athletic ones as well as soft comfy ones for lounging or running errands. You can literally wear leggings so many ways and I will be busy over here trying to style them in as many ways as I possibly can.

Here are my top legging picks:

3. Boots

The one thing I was determined to find, and willing to splurge a little more on, during the infamous #NSALE was a pair of black over-the-knee boots. This pair of Stuart Weitzman otk boots are my actual dream boots and I’m so glad that I was able to get them on sale! I also scored a pair of Marc Fisher brown booties, which I’ll be sharing about later. Boots for fall are the florals for spring, in my opinion. The trend may not be groundbreaking, but it is timeless and I fully support it.

Here are the boots I’m loving:

4. Dresses

If anything was going to be controversial, it’d be dresses. But hear me out. You can pair it with an oversized pullover sweater, a cardigan, a jacket, leggings…

Plus there’s so many different styles!

Here are some cute dress options:

5. Jackets

I live for a leather jacket, be it classic, faux, or suede. Everything from the smell, to the feel, to how much cooler they can make any outfit. Nordstrom has such an amazing selection, and I always love finding items I love, by brands that I love, like this BlankNYC jacket

Here are my best jacket picks:

All five of these fall essentials are not only the perfect addition to any wardrobe, but also a really good base for a fall capsule wardrobe. So if you’re looking to shop and save, check out the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, now through August 30.

Don’t forget that Nordstrom has free shipping and returns as well as curbside pickup. And The Nordy Club, with which you earn points for every dollar you spend and get exclusive access to specific brands. I just got moved up to Insider status!

Something About Sézane

Simone Sweater Sezane Simone Sezane Russel Russel Sweater

While I would trade fall fashion for summer weather in a heartbeat, I can’t help but find myself grateful for sweater weather. Especially after discovering the French brand Sézane.

My first of their sweaters was from the Madewell x Sézane collaboration. What I loved most about it was the back details. And the fact that it could be worn backwards for a completely different look.

After seeing other digital fashionistas in Sézane pieces, it was impossible to not fall even deeper in love!

Courtney Halverson (of Pretty Little Fawn) inspired me to get the Simone sweater and Frédérique Harrel (of Freddie Harrel) made me want the Timothée.

These outfits feature two of latest sweater purchases. Even though I styled both of these looks with jeans, knitwear goes equally as great with a skirts, which is how I’ve been wearing them to work.

Which of these sweaters is your favorite and how would you wear it?
