Madewell Fall Style Event

Madewell Fall Style EventMadewell Newbury + Boston Bloggers

One of my favorite things about blogging is connecting with other bloggers. When we can come together and collaborate with a brand we all love? Even better.

I’m super excited to share that Gabby of First & Warren, Robbin of The New England Life, and I will be cohosting a fall style event at Madewell Newbury!

The event will be this Thursday, October 6th from 6PM – 8PM at Madewell Newbury, located at 329 Newbury Street, Boston, Massachusetts. Whether you’re in need of new jeans, boots, or sweaters for this fall, you definitely want to pop into Madewell for this event.

Not really looking for anything specific for the season?

That’s fine! You can still come by to see the three of us for some fall style tips, and check out Madewell’s newest fall arrivals. While you’re there you can enjoy some snacks (and sips), and enjoy 20% off your purchase of $125 or more!

We hope to see you there!!

There are times when doing my hair is something I just can’t do. Like, legitimately. Not even a ponytailMy Wig Wardrobe is the solution. Celebrities have turned to wigs for ages, and today most beauty YouTubers do as well. Whether you’re looking to cover up a bad hair day, switch up your look or protect your natural hair, you need a wig. Or, even better, a wig wardrobe!

I’ve tried a number of subscription services (including Ditto for these sunglasses), and My Wig Wardrobe is the first online wig subscription program.

In addition to celebrity inspired hair looks, all subscribers also gain access to a private Facebook group, where the owner, Yondel Gilfurt, shares beauty hacks and hair industry secrets! Since I know next to nothing about wigs, I love that Yondel does live videos explaining how to make them look natural. She also shows you how to care for your wigs. Which is important so you can wear it again and again.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe: Started from the Bottom

Fall Capsule JeansFall Capsule Shoes 1 Fall Capsule Shoes 2

Building a capsule wardrobe is an idea the I’ve toyed with for a while now. Pinterest (and lack of closet space) makes the minimalist approach to style seem very appealing.

The concept of a capsule wardrobe is that you limit your wardrobe to a few key pieces. Mixing and matching what you have to maximize outfit potential without the stress or overwhelm that comes from having too many options. Most capsule wardrobes I’ve come across have consisted of 30 items. I opted for 38 pieces, because I felt too restricted with anything less than that. You, however, can select whatever number of pieces you feel comfortable with. Keep in mind that less is more.

For the month of September, I decided (with a little inspiration) to simplify my closet and give a capsule wardrobe challenge a try. Each week I’ll share some of my favorite looks on Instagram using the hashtag #tspcapsule. But, make sure to check back here to see them all!

To start building my capsule wardrobe, I started from the bottom. Literally. I’m a jeans girl and don’t really wear a ton of other bottoms, so I selected four pairs of jeans and a simple black pencil skirt.

My favorite template can be found on the blog Selective Potential. I definitely gave it a Twenty Something Plus twist, but have something to use as a guideline was very helpful!

There are tons of good examples on Pinterest and if you need a little (or a lot) of outfit inspiration, check out Un-Fancy, a minimalist fashion blog.

Enchanted Silk Dress

After the Shake the Tree Yumi Kim event, I fell in love with Yumi Kim pretty hard.

My taste isn’t super feminine, but I find the floral prints of her dresses very appealing. It’s hard to explain, but I find that the Yumi Kim dresses I’ve worn have spoken for themselves.

I found Yumi Kim on Rent the Runway, and had to sneak this Enchanted Silk maxi into my last Unlimited order. Georgina invited me to join her on a Spirit of Boston Cruise, and this dress was absolutely perfect for it! Although, I did regret having worn the heels all day. My ankles are still not very happy with me.

Since I got so many compliments and a lot of question about this particular dress on Instagram, I wanted to share the details here as well.

For the cruise I also wore a purse and made sure to include a very similar one in the shop this post section below!

Fossil Crossbody Bag + Free People Top

Top: Free People | Jeans: DL1961 | Shoes: Primark | Purse: Fossil

While I do typically useRent the Runway for dresses most of the time, that is not all that they have.

When I came across this Free People top, I though it looked unique in a way that piqued my intrigue.

Despite the fact that I was actually getting ready to cancel my Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription, and only rent something when I really needed, I figured just one more time wouldn’t hurt! Besides, it really goes with the vibe of the crossbody bag that I got from Fossil.

Although, the style of the Fossil crossbody bag isn’t exactly my choice for everyday, it’s definitely a nice piece to use from time to time.

Add the shoes that Gabby of First & Warren said I had to get during one of our Primark excursions and the DL1961 jeans that I’ve been wearing quite frequently, and you have a chic yet minimalistic look with a whole lot of style!

Bellbrook Backpack

Beacon Hill is my favorite area to hang out in Boston.

On Charles Street alone there’s Follain, Tatte, Crane & Lion, The UPS Store (which I frequent for Rent the Runway purposes)…

Plus, it’s just a short walk away from Boston Public Garden. Which is the perfect place to brush up on my photography skills.

My obsession with Jo Totes basically started the second I learned to shoot in manual. I mean, a purse that doubles as a camera bag? Genius.

But since I already had a camera bag. And more than my fair share of purses, I showed restraint. Then I found out about the Bellbrook Backpack and lost it!

I’ve never really been a back pack person. But, after one too many times of bringing my rather bulky messenger style camera bag on the Red Line, I knew something had to be done.

What I love about this backpack is that it’s big enough to carry what I need for a day shooting photos around Boston. There are compartments for everything. It holds what I need, without the unnecessary bulk. And it has easy access side pockets. If you’re looking for a multi-purposeful camera bag, then you seriously need this!

Styled by 5 Featuring PinkBlush

Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.

Each month myself and four other boss blogger babes have been styling the same piece of clothing and since we all look and think differently from each other (hair, religion, location, skin, size, height, style…all of the above), you’ll get five totally different looks. That means you’ll get to see what I style, on other body types so you can find something that is best for you!

Styled by 5 ft. PinkBlushRoyal Blue Floral Short Sleeve Dress PinkBlush Maternity Dress White Michael Kor Crossbody Bag006-6

While Kaylynn was pregnant, she did a series on her blog, Among the Young, where she would wear non-maternity clothes. Even when she was very much so ready to pop, she looked absolutely fabulous!

Well, this is kind of like the opposite of that.

PinkBlush carries both non-maternity and maternity clothing for women. However, Deidre, Kaylynn, JacqueLauryn and I each styled this royal blue floral short sleeve maternity dress. Before you get any ideas, this is NOT a pregnancy announcement. I honestly wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about wearing a dress like this. But then, I got more compliments while taking photos for this blog post than any other outfit! Random strangers would pass by and say how beautiful it was.

It also didn’t hurt that it is super comfortable and had pockets. Because those are both very important details.

While white accessories go really well, the next time I wear my PinkBlush maternity dress, ankle boots will probably be involved.

Brass Clothing: Kick Some Brass

When Brass Clothing reached out to their customers for real models, I wasn’t going to apply.

Even though I really wanted to. I just didn’t think that I was what they’d had in mind. But as a huge fan of quality local goods, I felt that I owed it to myself to at the very least take a chance.

So, I did.

And you can now find me on the Brass website!

I don’t think I’m enough of a minimalist (more like the epitome of the opposite…) to have a capsule wardrobe. But, I love versatile pieces enough to want to add plenty of Brass to my closet. The three pieces that I own are not the only ones I’ve had my eye on.

I mean, The Ponte Pants?!

This dress isn’t one that I modeled for their website. I actually found it on their Last Change Room page. However, they did recently restock a very similar style (and in three different colors)!

Hair: Queen of Wigs (Look out for that blog post later!)

There are some days that getting up and starting my day is hard.

Those days are the days I find myself questioning, regretting and worrying about decisions I’ve made. Comparing my progress to where others are in their life. Feeling like nothing I do is good enough, so why bother.

Anxiety has that effect.

I don’t stand by any one way to cope, everyone is different. For me, therapy was helpful and mind over matter helps. Not always, but sometimes.

Thanks to The Dainty Pear, I now have a dainty little reminder that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I have wanted a bar necklace for awhile, but this one is a bit more special. It’s hand stamped and custom made.

I cannot get enough of it, this necklace means SO much and goes with literally everything! I’ve already been wearing it on repeat, so prepare to see a lot of outfits topped off with this.

This outfit in particular is great for when you don’t know what to wear. You really can’t ever go wrong with a blouse and jeans. You can dress them down with Converse or a pair of Birkenstock sandals. And up with a pair of heels, like I did.

Olive Green Dress + New Sunglasses

Dress: Rent the Runway | Shoes: Steve Madden (via Poshmark) | Belt: Who What Wear (similar)  Sunglasses: Tahari (via TJ Maxx) | Necklace: Kate Spade

As much a I love to rock a good pair of skinny jeans, sometimes it’s nice to dress up a little.

Like, in an actual dress.

This olive green dress from Bailey 44 from Rent the Runway, has a very 1930s feel to it.

While I’m not into the rockabilly style like that, this dress reminds me of Keri Hilson’s Pretty Girl Rock music video. And that I can fully get behind.

The dress is simplistic enough to accessorize a number of different ways. Which makes it the perfect excuse to bust out my new sunglasses!

So, if you follow me on Snapchat, you’ve probably seen me try on a particular pair of Prada sunnies.

I’m overly obsessed with them and have tired them on.

A lot.

As I do, literally, every time I walk by a Sunglass Hut.

It’s bad.

Luckily for me, I’d recently won a gift card to TJ Maxx (thanks to the grand opening of the one on Newbury Street). I was able to use some of the balance to get a pair of sunglasses. And, in a similar enough style to make me one very happy girl!
